2024-05-22

What is NFC?

NFC stands near field communication, the technology that allows two devices — like your phone and a payments terminal — to talk to each other when they’re close together.

As part of RFID technology, NFC is more familiar to people, such as bus cards, Apple Pay, NFC business cards, etc.

Today I will tell you 10 unknown uses of NFC. Before starting to study NFC, we generally need a mobile phone that supports NFC function, both Android and Apple are available. Then we need some NFC tags or NFC cards.

1.Instantly Connect to a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth Network

In our daily life, you may feel that the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection process may be very long and tedious. But with NFC tags connecting to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth is no longer such a hassle.

We can start by writing the Wi-Fi username and password to the NFC tag. So clicking on the tab will pre-populate the Wi-Fi connection details, allowing you to surf the web with ease.

Likewise, you can use an NFC TagWriter to store Bluetooth pairing information in an NFC tag. Whenever you want to play music or connect a device via Bluetooth, just touch the NFC tag.

2. Open the website

Sometimes we may want to share the URL with others, but manually entering the URL every time may be very time-consuming and laborious.

With the NFC tag, we can write the URL into the NFC tag in advance. When the other party touches the NFC tag with their mobile phone, the URL will automatically pop up and we only need to click it.

3.Make Payments

eNFC enables contactless payments using services such as Google Pay, Samsung Pay or Apple Pay. Contactless payments have become commonplace in many parts of the world. In fact, contactless payments are the payment method of choice at many convenience and food stores across the United States.

Many people in China also choose to convert their physical bus cards and shopping cards into virtual NFC cards, or copy the information into an NFC stickers that can be pasted on the back of a mobile phone. In this way, we do not need to carry many cards, and one mobile phone can All payment issues can be solved.

4. Execute mobile shortcuts

Both Android and iOS now have the ability to automatically perform common tasks, and when used with NFC tags, these capabilities can be maximized. For example, automatically make calls, open the camera, automatically play music, etc.

To achieve these functions, you only need to bind an NFC tag when setting up automation.

5.Create an Digital Business Card

In the past, we mainly used paper or PVC business cards, which needed to be handed out to each other one by one. Often we need to carry a large number of business cards when we go out, or we may forget to bring them.

Using NFC business cards, wecan only carry one business card every day. First we need to create a link with information about us, such as your name, title, company, website, email and social media profiles. After creating the card, generate a QR code or shareable link. Different customers only need to touch the card with an NFC phone, and our business card link will pop up, and it also has a built-in save to address book function. This avoids the risk of losing business cards and makes sharing business card information faster and faster.

6. Quickly share store links

Now more and more restaurants, cafes, and shops are starting to use NFC tags.

We can write the store's online ordering link into the NFC ordering card in advance, and customers only need to touch the ordering card with their mobile phones to order online.

At the same time, we can also write the store's online review link into the NFC tag, and customers can quickly click on the link to comment on the store. The very popular NFC google review tag recently adopted this idea.
